New Fibre Optic Tails are Tops

New Fibre Optic Tails are Tops
Roblon has launched a raft of new Collections to complement its innovative ranges of fibre optics.

Amongst the new products is the Avant-garde Collection, exclusively available in the UK from the Light Projects Group. Cleverly designed to blend in with any substrate, these fibre optic ends are fully flexible for fine-tuning light. As with the complete range of new downlights from Roblon, they can be focused, tilted and locked-off from the front of the fitting without the need for tools or removal from the ceiling. They are adjustable through 360° and include a glare-free lens. The range is available in three sizes of fitting to accommodate fibre optic tails from 2mm to 10mm. It also features adjustable beam angles and a position locking mechanism for precision illumination of display or decorative lighting schemes. The Avant-Garde is available in several finishes – black, white, grey, chrome and antique bronze.

Fibre optic lighting has three distinct advantages over traditional lighting: the light source can be placed where it is easily accessible for maintenance; the light emits no ultraviolet or infrared radiation; and the light does not carry current. This makes fibre optic systems ideal for applications that would otherwise be difficult or expensive to light. They can be used for inaccessible or elevated areas where maintenance is awkward, for installations where infrared radiation would cause damage, such as museums, and underwater where electric current could be hazardous.

The systems are suitable for projects which require special effects, such as multiple light points, shifting colours, sparkling or directed light and the light-framing of pictures, paintings or information tables. They also meet special performance requirements, such as areas exposed to danger of explosion or vandalism, applications where lights have to be placed very close to an object without causing damage and applications where light fittings have to be very small and discreet.
