Life is an innovative new range of luminaires from Whitecroft Lighting that has been designed to simulate the appearance of skylights and provide daylight conditions in any environment. There are two basic elements to the Life range, Life Q and Life L, which can be used independently or combined to create a dramatic visual impact. Life Q is a square module, feature lighting system with an opal diffuser that creates the sensation of a skylight overhead. This variation of Life has been designed to integrate into standard suspended ceilings and can be configured to create large pools of light in the centre of large spaces.
Life L is a linear continuous module which can be used to enhance architectural features or create interest within a ceiling plan. Corner pieces allow L shaped and rectangular shapes to be produced. The energy efficient T5 lamps in Life L overlap to avoid dark areas and to ensure that both versions utilise a Tp(a) diffuser to prevent visibility of the lamps.
The colour temperature of lamps used in the Life luminaire range can be chosen specifically to determine the effect the illumination will have on its surroundings. The correct choice of lamp for use with a Life luminaire system can have a vast impact on both the visual appearance and effectiveness of a space. In relaxation areas such as canteens, a warm colour temperature can have a calming effect, whilst areas where personnel have to remain alert such as meeting rooms, a cooler colour will aid concentration. For areas with natural light, such as receptions, Life luminaires should be used in conjunction with daylight balanced lamps to closely imitate the external colour temperature.
Both Life L and Life Q are suitable for use in areas where creative illumination is vital including receptions, lift lobbies, boardrooms and retail environments. Life L will create a comfortable visual environment whilst Life Q can provide the illusion of natural outdoor light inside.
