Launched by Greenstock this month are new shatterproof versions of the Aura super long life fluorescent tubes. The Aura Protector range of fluorescent tubes use a high quality transparent FEP plastic film to contain the glass and contents of the lamp if for any reason a breakage occurs. This shatterproof coating is of such high specification that it will even outlast the exceptionally long life of up to 60,000 hours of these fluorescent tubes. The FEP coating provides protection through the wide temperature range of the lamps from -40 to +150 °C and suffers no UV degradation.
The new Aura Protector lamps are ideal for all parts of the food industry from retail display through to factories, processing, storage and distribution and also for other health and safety conscious applications such as the chemical and paper industries. The FEP shatterproof material is FDA approved and the lamps allow compliance with food industry legislation.
With lives some seven and a half times longer than a standard fluorescent tube, the Aura Protector fluorescent lamps are highly cost effective. There are much fewer lamp changes, hence significantly reduced labour, lamp replacement and lamp disposal costs.
The new Aura Protector lamps are available in both T8 and T5 types. The T8 versions come in 18W, 30W, 36W and 58W 60,000 hour versions and in a choice of five different colours. The T5 comes in 8W to 13W 20,000 hours and 14W to 80W 48,000 hour versions in either warm white or white colours.
