The individuality of EVIO stems from the unusual materials used in it's design. Wood finishes in rich walnut and finely grained Beachwood, and the confident use of Eternit, a thin non-combustible roofing and cladding material made from fibres and cement - give Zumtobel Staff's latest luminaire a very distinguished feel. Using wood and Eternit, which actually mimics the appearance of concrete, is a bold departure away from conventional luminaire design.
EVIO makes good aesthetic use of modern construction materials and is the first ever luminaire to combine the very latest louvre technology with Eternit. Its designer, Rupert Kopp, of Greige/Büro für Design Design, in Berlin, said, "The world of office lighting is dominated by aluminium and powder-coated surfaces. EVIO leaves this well trodden path and wraps the luminaire in laminated wood and Eternit".
Setting new standards in cell louvre miniaturisation EVIO is decisively different from conventional T16 louvres. Unlike standard aluminium louvres, which are assembled from a series of components, the one-piece injection moulded louvre in EVIO, is second to none, in terms of precision stability and evenness. The perfectly rounded cell edges enable optimal diagonal anti-glare protection.
Available in both direct/indirect and direct lighting options EVIO is as flexible in purpose as it is in creating imaginative architectural lighting design schemes.
While the direct component of the direct/indirect luminaire precisely illuminates the task area, the diffuse indirect component lights the room in a balanced way to create a comfortable and pleasant environment. In the direct light distribution format EVIO concentrates on the task area and illuminates this highly efficiently, which is achieved through the cell louvre technology that allows for a convergence of superior lighting and compact design.
