Walkover lights using LED light sources, supplied by Scolmore International, have been used to enhance safety and reduce maintenance costs at Manchester Airport. Installed by Cross Services Group, which is permanently based on site to provide a range of maintenance services, the Scolmore lights have been used to replace existing walkover fittings on walkways in Terminal 1 of the airport.
"The existing fittings were subject to damage by passers-by, so they required regular repair," explained Cross Group's Ian McMorrow. "The Scolmore fittings have been fitted flush into the terrazzo floor tiles, using the existing locations and bevelling the edges of the recesses to ensure an even finish. In using LED light sources, instead of the original compact fluorescent lamps, we have also been able to extend the re-lamping cycles, which is an important consideration as the lights are on 24 hours a day," he added.
