Fagerhult Lighting UK is the sole manufacturer specified within the interior spaces of the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs new southern headquarters. ‘Building 33' is designed by architects Shepard Robson and with wind turbines and state of the art materials has achieved the BREAAM standard of excellence. Fagerhults contribution toward the overall efficiency of the building is the installation of both the product Loop Light with a T5 source and a full Exor control system. This allows both daylight sensing and individual switching of the fittings. Attention was paid both to the energy performance of the scheme and to achieving a clean design appearance within the offices. The Loop Light system forms a harmonious line and the mini Exor sensors that are approximately the size of a penny are virtually invisible.
The office interiors utilise Loop Light in a uniform distribution but the mounting of the product required a non standard accessories. Fagerhult worked closely with their client Haden Young and TP consult, the design engineers to develop an extended couplet with through wiring to enable an easy to install plug and play system. A special solution was required to get power to the fittings from the exposed concrete slab ceiling so the rod suspension option for Loop Light was modified in order to house a seven core cable.
Fagerhult's commitment towards an ecologically sustainable society is to manufacture energy efficient luminaries and develop luminaires for energy efficient light sources such as the T5 and compact fluorescent lamps as well as through innovations such as Fagerhult's patent pending reflector technology r5. This is put into practice by limiting the environmental impact of a luminaire during its entire life cycle - from development, manufacture, transport and use through to recycling.
