The high ceilings and open plan offices required architects Leckenby Associates to find a product that would be unobtrusive but distinctive, provide no glare and suit the contemporary style of the client. The twin 35w suspended pendant Open Box was chosen with the added accessory of an integral pull cord to provide the opportunity of individual switching within the space. Craig Leckenby explains, "We chose the Open Box as it fulfilled all the clients requirements both in its ashtetics and its functionality with the added bonus of a very competitive price for the quality of product. Diesel are very pleased with the end result and the installation has considerably improved the working conditions within their office environment".Fagerhult's Open Box was the winner of the 52nd red dot design awards in 2007 due to its combination of pioneering design, energy efficiency and ergonomics. The luminaire was the vision of Casper Asmussen, Gustav Nord and Filip Sauer who wished to question traditional luminaire design and to consequently design outside the box. "We wanted to create an impression of air and lightness. A luminaire can easily be perceived as enclosed and heavy - as a box suspended from the ceiling. The first step was to open the box," Gustav explained. Open Box has a series of small perforations which enable the inside of the luminaire to be illuminated.
The regional office in Dubai follows a series of acquisitions that further strengths Fagerhult Groups position as a global lighting solutions provider. Project Lighting Equipment in the Republic of Ireland, Eagle Lighting Group in Australia, WACO Lighting in Belgium and Eclairage Conseil Lyonnaisin France join the recently opened offices in Poland and China, offering Fagerhults customers the opportunity to be serviced directly in 16 countries throughout the world.
