The wide choice and flexibility provided by Flex Connectors' lighting connection and control solutions have resulted in the use of the flex 7 range throughout Tresham Institute's brand new £20 million single campus for Kettering, Northamptonshire.flex 7 networked occupancy sensors, absence detectors, 4-core modular chains, plugs and leads and connection units were installed in the innovative four-storey winged building, which is designed around a central atrium. The company supplied over 3500 individual items of lighting connection and control equipment for the new campus, which welcomes its first students in September 2007.
The contractors, Briggs & Forrester, chose Flex Connectors for their extensive standard range and because they were able to supply products which could be specially configured to meet detailed and installation-specific lighting requirements. Clive Evans, Project Engineer at Briggs & Forrester explained that "the flex 7 lighting connection and controls range gave us everything we needed to meet the client brief, as well as satisfying our own criteria for easy and straightforward installation".
The use of flex 7 absence detectors was particularly important in helping Tresham meet its energy-efficiency targets, whilst accommodating the needs of building users. The absence detectors ensure that lights are not left on in empty rooms or areas, whilst providing the option of manual control.
The new Kettering campus incorporates facilities for a wide range of full and part time courses, as well as an information and advice centre, multi media library and resource centre, refectory and coffee shop, performance space and indoor sports facilities.
