Zumtobel Vaero fittings provide a striking visual statement at EPR Architects' recently refurbished new studios at 30 Millbank, London. EPR Architects' refurbishment of this 1960's listed building reflects the original modernist principles by maximizing the use of daylight to flood the internal space. The Vaero fittings enhance the natural lighting, providing a continuous light spine suspended above three 45m long desks which mimic the Y-shape of the building and accommodate 150 work stations. By planning the space in this way the architects have enabled individual project groups to work together whilst maintaining the feeling of one team. The Vaero fittings with Waveguide technology provide reflection-free light for screen- and desk-based work in a translucent, minimalist low profile fitting that perfectly enhances the streamlined space. The outer zones and central office areas are lit using Zumtobel's Panos recessed downlighters with white optic installed to provide neutral soft lighting. Zumtobel Slotlights, installed in the bathrooms, deliver continuous ribbons of light to preserve the sleek, white sophistication of the entire environment.
Overall the lighting has created a glare-free working environment, offering the perfect balance between the work stations and surrounding areas.
