Riegens Lighting's innovative Ambit luminaires have been supplied to Derek Woodman in Blackpool, one of the largest BMW sites in Europe, for use in the company's showrooms. The dealership recently relocated to a new state of the art 5.2 acre development on Whitehalls Business Park, with room for a spacious MINI showroom. M & E consultant Kingswood Building Services Engineers in Preston specified and installed the luminaires, working to a brief that included lighting the interior perimeter of the showroom to create a ‘halo' effect when looking in from the outside, even during the day. With this in mind, BMW showrooms are now being designed with a drop bulkhead around the interior perimeter. Riegens Ambit luminaires have been used for continuous pelmet lighting around the perimeter of the main showroom and the MINI showroom. Overlapping of the lamps provides a shadow free, wash of light, whilst the compact proportions of the Ambit luminaires, only 150mm width, allowed their use in a very thin pelmet.
Designed for use with energy efficient T5 lamps, Riegens Ambit has an interlocking design at both ends and is available in different sizes to enable the user to make up unusual lengths. Through wiring of each fitting and the addition of a plug and socket at each end allows for rapid installation and negates the need for hard wiring. This makes it far more cost effective than installing standard fluorescent fittings in terms of installation time and costs.
