Megaman® gets serious with a zero tolerance policy to GU10 copies

Megaman UK and its manufacturing parent company Neonlite state that all importers, distributors and wholesalers found to be involved in the importation and sales of copy GU10 lamps will find themselves subject to legal proceedings. The Megaman GU10 lamp holds a Design Patent and copies of this patented technology will no longer be tolerated.

Megaman UK's Managing Director, John Murphy said "Of the copies our technical department have examined, they found them to be of inferior quality; using sub standard components which do not live up to their quoted life or light output claims. This blatant copying is not only illegal, but is also unfair on the consumer, who is buying a lamp in all innocence, unaware of the potential risk associated with using a lamp containing inferior components. All the copy lamps were found to have low grade capacitors whose tolerance levels were not high enough to cope with the internal operating temperature of this lamp. This results in the lamp over heating and failing prematurely".

The Megaman GU10 lamp has been a big success for the company with demand exceeding all expectations and they eagerly await delivery of the 2nd generation IngeniumTM technology.

Available in the UK from August, the new IngeniumTM technology uses an undisclosed method of striking the lamps resulting in a less than 1 second start; the light output is enhanced, together with an increase in life expectancy to 15,000 hours. The 7w GU10 sees a reduction in length of 10mm and a new 9w version is also added to the reflector range for applications where a higher light output is desired. The technology is patent protected across the entire IngeniumTM range of Megaman lamps including the GU10.
