i-Vision introduces the Green Kitchen

i-Vision introduces the Green Kitchen
LED lighting manufacturer i-Vision has installed a variety of its standard Lumos range of LED lighting products into the stylish new Intoto Kitchens showroom in Cardiff.

This illustrates the concept of "The Green Kitchen" in terms of energy consumption, whilst also attractively illuminating the various premium kitchen ranges in the showroom, and offering Intoto's designers and clients a series of lighting packages and ideas to combine with their kitchen planning.

There is a heavy emphasis on contemporary designs, all of which lend themselves ideally to feature lighting. Intoto's Chris Galtry says, "Introducing integral lighting as an option has been a great success so far, and definitely gives us the edge as designers and suppliers".

The showroom features examples from i-Vision's extensive white and RGB LED ranges including the Lumos Strip, Lumos +3s and +1s up/down-lighters and Lumos Link ranges, which are used in a variety of different situations. They are utilised as kick plate illumination, for over-heads and cove lighting, as above and below shelf and cupboard lighting and for edge lighting windows, plus many other applications.

i-Vision makes a selection of white LEDs with different colour temperatures that are ideal for kitchen task lighting, while the Lumos RGB and colour changing fixtures are perfect for all-purpose lighting or for special effects. i-Vision itself has designed and supplied lighting schemes to several private houses which has included kitchen lighting.

"Kitchens should be a functional and also a fun environment" explains i-Vision's Geoff Jones, who highlights that the kitchen is the hub of the home environment for many people, and that good lighting is crucial in creating mood and atmosphere.

i-Vision also offers several control options for the kitchen lighting schemes including an RF based hand-held that can be used to select between different pre-programmed settings.

It's also important that kitchen lighting is affordable – both in terms of the initial investment and then the ongoing running costs – and Lumos is renowned for its good engineering and value.

"People generally are becoming more aware of green issues and the potential energy savings to be made from installing well thought-out lighting systems" says Jones, "And having product in an environment like a kitchen showroom is great for tapping into this".

Installing one of i-Vision's LED kitchen lighting schemes will result in an estimated 80% reduction in energy consumption as compared to conventional lighting.

At Intoto Cardiff, those planning a new kitchen, can immediately see how the high quality of LED illumination can creatively transform their space. They then have the bonus of realising the positive impact it will also have on their electricity bills.

i-Vision initially became involved in the Intoto showroom project through Paul Adams at the PAI group, who was supplying AV to the new showroom. It is Intoto's second outlet, after their initial Tredegar facility, and is intended to become their flagship store in Wales.
