The IS Limited has supplied a Rapid Lighting Control System to the newly refurbished 16-20 North Audley Street speculative office development in central London. The system was specified by consulting engineers Furness Green Partnership for its ability to provide high levels of flexibility for incoming tenants, enabling them to configure the lighting controls to suit their own needs.Installed by contractors MITIE Engineering Services, the fully addressable Rapid system covers the five storeys of office space and the basement, providing a PIR controlled system whereby when a person enters a cell of luminaires they come on in typically groups of 8 fittings, the system then through software brings on a predetermined notional corridor lighting arrangement, ensuring the exit routes are always maintained whilst there is occupancy on that floor of the building. When the floor is finally vacated the corridors will time out typically 15 minutes after the last PIR times out. The time settings on both the PIR's and the corridor hold are all programmable to the clients requirements.
The Rapid system is fully configurable, so that incoming tenants can adjust the lighting control strategy to suit their particular office layout and working patterns without making changes to the hard-wiring. The system also has the facility to be linked to a central computer with a user-friendly graphical front end so that changes to the lighting and monitoring of energy consumption can be made easily and quickly, if tenants wish.
