Plexineon, the unique solid plastic linear LED system, has been installed to dramatic effect in the new Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Museum at the All England Lawn Tennis Club.Supplied by the Light Projects Group, 64 lengths of Plexineon Blue form a circle under the glass floor to highlight the interactive exhibits. The museum was designed by Mather and Company with DHA Designs lighting consultants.
Plexineon is unique because it comprises a solid plastic waveguide with the LEDs encapsulated within. The result is a bright uniform glow across the entire length. In addition, compared with Fiber Optics, the LED technology ensures that the brightness level is formidable. This means the fitting has a similar appearance to the traditional neon lamp but operates at a fraction of the maintenance and running costs. Another advantage of Plexineon is the IP rating of 66 making it highly water-resistant.
The range is available in six vibrant colours - blue, teal, green, amber, orange and red – as well as three temperatures of white. In addition, the fitting is far more resilient than traditional neon, being extremely durable and shatterproof. It also runs at a very cool temperature allowing it to be sited near flammable materials or within touching range.
