Trilux recently worked with Architects, Atkins on a new 6th form block for Woodgreen School in Witney, consisting of the 6th form dining room, common rooms, ICT rooms and offices. The head feels the new building has had a good influence on student behaviour; they now respect and enjoy their surroundings. The dining room has changed the ethos of the 6th form, as it is used all day for private or group study.
A dual lighting system enables the mood of the room to change for differing functions. Compact fluorescent downlights give a good general level of light, complemented by wall-mounted uplights. The room is used in the evenings for parent consultations and is also rented to outside users. In this instance the more decorative ROB pendant lighting is utilised, resulting in a warmer more intimate atmosphere.
The ICT ROOM is a modern functional room with state of the art IT equipment, the lighting is designed to complement the architectural form. Direct/Indirect linear fittings give good glare free lighting for operating the computers, in addition the ceiling and walls are well lit to relieve eyestrain and give a light airy feel to the space.
All of these teaching and seminar rooms can be hired to parents and adult education organisations. This source of revenue is important part of the school's budget, as is the quality of the Trilux fittings resulting in lower ongoing maintenance costs.
