Venture Lighting has supplied a wide selection of metal halide lamps to the new Costco warehouse in Milton Keynes for both interior and exterior lighting. In the sales area, the lamps are linked to Holophane's Prismatron system, providing dimming of luminaires in relation to daylight levels entering the space.Inside the warehouse, 400W lamps are used in Prismalume high bay luminaires, connected to fully controllable remote electronic ballasts. The lamps are controlled through the Building Management System, providing dimmed light output between 5am and 10am, providing 250 lux on the working plane, while the warehouse is being stocked, ramping up to full output when the warehouse opens.
Throughout the day, the lamps are then synchronised with daylight levels to maintain an illuminance of 700 lux. When the warehouse closes, the lighting is again reduced to 250 lux until staff leave.
Thanks to Venture's Uniform lamp technology, combined with the advanced control characteristics of the Prismatron system, the lamps are expected to provide 10% longer useful life, thus reducing maintenance costs by extending re-lamping schedules.
Venture light sources have also been used for exterior lighting, with 450W lamps in Holophane Vista Grande post-top luminaires, 400W lamps in Seattle floodlights and 80W mercury lamps in Wallpackette wall mounted security lighting.
