One of the world's leading lighting companies, Franz Sill GmbH has just celebrated its 50th anniversary. Since 1955, the company has concentrated on the design and development of exterior luminaries for many applications.Its products grace many architectural projects around the world from airports, stations and bridges to office facades, shopping centres, sports stadia and heritage sites. Some fine examples include the Medina Mosque in Saudi Arabia with its 9,000 gold plated fittings, the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin and the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao.
Over the last half century, Sill has earned a reputation for precision engineered quality lighting products featuring computer designed optics for high performance lighting with no glare. Sill pioneered the linear tungsten halogen floodlight in 1963 and the following year went on to produce the first diecast aluminium fittings for mercury, high pressure sodium and metal halide lamps. It was also the first company to introduce metal halide luminaires for retail in 1984.
This company anniversary also happens to coincide with the 10th anniversary of its UK subsidiary Sill Lighting UK. During this time, Sill Lighting UK has provided illumination to numerous UK landmarks notably the Millennium Dome, the Royal Albert Hall, Selfridges London and Birmingham, Coventry Cathedral, Heathrow and the Eden Project.

From its headquarters in Berlin, where Sill employs 125 people in design, development, manufacturing and sales, Sill now has partners in 35 countries around the world, and as well as Europe, has been established in the Middle East, Asia, Australia and America for many years.
