Lady Lever in the Spotlight

Lady Lever in the Spotlight
Set in the attractive garden village of Port Sunlight, the Lady Lever Art Gallery holds one of the most beautiful collections of fine and decorative arts in the country.

During the refurbishment of three of the internal galleries, Brian Gaskell, the Electrical Maintenance Officer for the National Galleries, Liverpool required a truly innovative lighting scheme to cope with the sensitive demands created by this environment.

The solution was supplied by Martyn Whittaker from the Fitzgerald Lighting Group, and included a combination of batten luminaries, Occhio Tracklights and a wire free lighting control system from the Exodus product range.

The batten fittings were installed behind prismatic diffuser sheets, creating a skylight effect, whilst the main body of the room utilized the Occhio spotlights installed on a three circuit track. Every luminaire is supplied with digital dimming, allowing the curators to adjust light levels as and when the displays are changed, creating a flexible, efficient solution to lighting these national treasures.
