LIGHTING CONTROLS – LEARNING TO MAKE LIGHT WORK

LIGHTING CONTROLS – LEARNING TO MAKE LIGHT WORK
For the past 20 years Ex-Or Ltd, European leaders in lighting management, have been helping schools around the UK to dramatically cut costs and save energy by eliminating wasteful use of lights.

Ex-Or lighting management systems automatically control lighting. They enable lights to dim or brighten, and switch on and off, by monitoring the presence of occupants and by measuring the amount of natural light available.

Lighting can account for up to half of a typical school's electricity use. With electricity usually accounting for half of the total energy bill there is the potential to save 25 per cent of the entire electricity load.

Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council is enjoying an annual £27,000 reduction in its electricity bills following the installation of Ex-Or systems throughout 30 schools in the area.

Telford and Wrekin Council in Shropshire cut thousands of pounds a year from the electricity bills at three schools following the installation of presence detection lighting control equipment from Ex-Or Ltd to control the lighting. The cost of the installation will be recouped in less than five years and the council will enjoy maintaining the cost savings for many years after that.

Now Warrington Borough Council's Building Maintenance Section are the latest in a long line of local authorities to specify Ex-Or systems in their schools to conserve energy. Equipment has just been installed at Sycamore Lane County Primary School, Great Sankey, Cheshire.

Ex-Or is a public sector supplier with OGCbuying.solutions, the executive agency of the Office of Government and Commerce in the Treasury which is dedicated to providing procurement services to help central government and the wider public sector to achieve greater efficiency and value for money.
