Luxo's Calypso desk light was chosen by Philips Lighting for its new offices in Guildford. Flexibility, visual comfort and energy efficiency were the key criteria for the selection of this contemporary task light, which is specifically designed for use on computer workstations. The building has been extensively refurbished and consists of mainly open plan office space with separate meeting rooms. 160 Calypso desk lights were installed at workstations throughout the facility to provide optimum work surface lighting. Elsewhere Philips own luminaires have been used, including Carpe Diem and Adante wall lights for the main office area, colour changing Strato for breakout areas, and recessed ground fittings using the latest LED technology for the meeting rooms.
Calypso's design ensures the head will always remain parallel to the work surface, thereby preventing any glare or reflection on the computer screen and eliminating the possibility of causing discomfort to others. Calypso was supplied to Philips with a high frequency ballast to ensure flicker-free illumination and an optional louvre may be fitted for use at desks that are height adjustable.
