MR16-type LED Luminaires

EcoLEDLighting's new 'fit and forget' MR16 LED products offer unrivalled performance capabilities and cost saving benefits, even when compared to compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs).

As well as increased energy efficiency, LEDs offer a longer life span than CFLs (up to 100,000 hours) and are available in different colour variants. EcoLEDLighting's 12W & 16W MR16s replacements are also fully dimmable and available in white or warm white. The 12W version is also Parts L 1 & 2 compliant.

EcoLEDLighting's luminaires are recyclable, easy to maintain with no breakable filament to ensure increased reliability and durability. Typical applications for the MR16 range include: replacement for dichroic and halogen light units; elevators; high-ceilings in theatres, offices, cinemas and retail outlets; all types of exterior lighting application - as well eco-sites where energy is limited to solar and wind generation.

Emergency Handrails / Corridor Lighting

The EcoLEDLighting Emergency Handrail Lighting solution was designed to comply with The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.

  • Self-contained mains-powered with battery backup lighting, enclosed within the balustrade / handrail assembly.
  • In emergency mode, the system provides up to 4 hours of 30-50% dimmed illumination to current H & S standards.
  • Provides ambient illumination at all times and dims into lowlight condition in an emergency situation (mains power off).

It is specifically designed to guide light onto the stairs & floors of emergency exits & corridors and areas where a hazardous or explosive environment exists and durability is essential. They are also designed for all interior and exterior walkways where handrails are used. Available to mount a range of handrails between 38mm dia. and 76mm dia railings.

LED Luminaires are the Future

The cost and efficiency of conventional light sources is being questioned: Global warming and environmental awareness are leading to widespread changes in attitudes towards energy consumption further driven by education and law. This situation means new alternatives in lighting technology are more necessary than ever before.

The leading alternative light source that has emerged in the last ten years is the Light Emitting Diode (LED). The technology is now breaking through into the general lighting market, and this trend is set to continue as purchasers become aware of the substantial benefits LEDs, such as EcoLEDLighting's MR16 LED range, have when compared to conventional lighting.

For homeowners, LED lighting represents a major opportunity to reduce the running costs of exterior and interior lighting of homes. The increasing demand - and the requirement for reductions - placed on our fossil fuel supplies is where LEDs could have the biggest impact. If used as a replacement for an existing light source, it is possible to reduce the voltage mains power from 110Vac or 240Vac, to 12Vdc or 24Vdc. This offers substantial reductions in power consumption over traditional systems. As a comparison with conventional mains powered lighting solutions, savings of 80% - 95% are not uncommon.

LED lighting systems are environmentally and ecologically friendly.

Other than the massive reduction in use of conventionally generated energy, there are no poisonous elements used in component manufacture, such as mercury and other noxious and polluting gases. For every 10KWh of useable energy generated by a solar panel, 7Kg of Carbon Dioxide gas is saved from being produced and entering the atmosphere. As well as increased energy efficiency, LEDs offer a longer life span than conventional light sources. As an example, the (typical) total life of an LED is 100,000 hours (20+ years) with minimal degradation of light output. And, unlike typical conventional light sources, LEDs are not subject to sudden failure or burnout as there are no filaments to bum out or break.

Other benefits of LED lighting in comparison with traditional light sources include colour continuity. Most lights lose brightness after a period of time LEDs do not. And LEDs light instantly and do not suffer loss of life due to switching on and off as opposed to low energy bulbs which have a high switch on cost. The tide is now turning in favour of LEDs. Indeed, earlier this year, the EU announced that in just two years, incandescent light bulbs will be banned. LEDs are here to stay, and when it comes, the change will be unstoppable.
