For the second year running Whitecroft Lighting Ltd will be exhibiting at 2005 IHEEM Estates exhibition as well as presenting at the conference with a paper entitled "Delivering Best Value in Healthcare".The presentation will look at the evidence from the NHS Estates sponsored study carried out by the Department of Architecture at Sheffield University in 2003 into the effect the environment can have on patient well being. Whitecroft will be stating why they believe the way hospitals are lit can have a major impact on patient psychology and analyse this within the framework of the Royal Academy of Engineering 'Building ownership Lifetime Cost Model'. The benefit different lighting approaches offer to patient recovery will be analysed and put into context within a 7 key criteria model developed for the evaluation of different lighting approaches. The presentation concludes by showing that to deliver best value, lighting must impact on patient recovery. It also shows how Whitecroft has developed facilities to help project teams involved in healthcare projects to rapidly determine their preferred approach to solving the critical criteria of patient comfort and well being.
Whitecroft will be sharing a stand with Rockfon Ceiling Systems and demonstrating how an integrated lighting and ceiling system can dramatically speed up the installation process and reduce both capital and through life costs. Use of new technologies will be shown that can give the patient enhanced control of their immediate environment and how using colour can have a positive effect on the patient's psychological and physical health.
