Since its opening during spring 2004, Whitecroft's Healthcare Application Centre has experienced an increasing success and has proven the expertise of Whitecroft in healthcare lighting. The purpose of this application room, located in Whitecroft's headquarters in Ashton–under–Lyne, is to demonstrate the effects of different light sources and luminaires in the healthcare environment.
Recreating the layout of hospital rooms, the facility enables end users, consultants and contractors to measure the result of the lighting design before the construction starts. Lighting solutions for typical healthcare environments such as wards, hospital corridors and consulting rooms can be demonstrated by the lighting engineers.
"With this resource, electrical consultants and constructors have the opportunity not just to evaluate our fittings but also to assess their fit with other components of the design", explains Nigel Kilby, Whitecroft's Divisional Managing Director. "And because hospital staff needs good lighting for their well-being and to perform daily duties effectively, we encourage them to visit us to have their say about the lighting of their future workplace".
The Healthcare Application Centre has attracted more than 200 groups of visitors so far and was used as an experimental facility for major projects like Derby Hospital or Manchester Joint Hospital.
