The Mike Stoane Lighting tenth birthday party on August 12th was a resounding success. There was the chance to try out the go karts and the dirt bike, and the King Kong bouncy castle was popular with both adults and children, although the kids had a lot more stamina than their parents! Music was provided by a great live band with Doug Hamilton from LDPi on drums. There was also an archive of products on show charting the company's ten year history. In ten years MSL has grown up and expanded but remains true to it's original principles of flexibility, innovation and intelligent service. The company continues to manufacture all their products in the UK and the genuine passion for making lights held by MSL staff was obvious as they showed their guests around the workshop and assembly areas so they could get to see first hand what goes on behind the scenes.
At the bar there was a choice of exotic beer from Czechoslovakia, Russia and of course Scotland, and on the BBQ there were burgers and sausages from prize winning butchers Findlay's of Portobello. Lucky David Brown won the chandelier raffle and he promises this one is going up at home and not in his Leith Walk Showroom. Patrick Elsdale was banned from the bouncy castle for wearing shoes and also banned from behind the bar when he tried to serve himself! The most damage was cause by Kevin Grant from Arup who wheelied the dirt bike while doing a 360° do'nut by mistake.
Mike said 'We are incredibly proud of what we've achieved and grateful to those who have believed in and helped us from the early days. Some of the opportunities we have been given over the years have demonstrated a real trust in our ability and have been instrumental in the growth of the company'.
