Leading luminaire manufacturer Whitecroft Lighting has been awarded the ISO 14001:2004 Environmental Management System accreditation by the British Standards Institute. This confirms Whitecroft Lighting as a leading environmentally accredited supplier to the construction industry, an industry where only approximately 1.27% of all construction companies and related suppliers have received this recognition.
On route to achieving ISO 14001:2004, the Implementation Team quantified the carbon foot print of the business, going on to evaluate the impact the company was having on the use of natural resources and the environment at a local, national and global level. By carrying out this research, the business has been able to develop environmental improvement plans that will reduce the carbon foot print of the business in the region of 40%. The improvement plans vary from a new design of delivery vehicles, carrying 25% greater loads, to a more efficient paint plant, plus controls on power consumption in the offices to name a few.
In keeping with its focus on environmental improvements, Whitecroft is a member of a WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) recycling scheme and has verified that all the luminaires it manufactures are fully RoHS compliant. This provides customers with the reassurance that all luminaires purchased from Whitecroft are manufactured in an ecologically sound manner and are fully recyclable at the point of disposal. Whitecroft takes its corporate social responsibility a step further by ensuring that all materials used in the manufacture of luminaires are procured in a socially responsible manner from ethical sources.
ISO 14001:2004 accreditation serves as a first step for Whitecroft Lighting in their continuing commitment to the environment and development of environmentally friendly systems and management. Whitecroft also holds ISO 9001:2000 Quality Management System accreditation.
