Export boost for EX-OR as companies switch on to the environmental benefits of lighting control

Energy saving technology from international leaders in lighting management Ex-Or Limited is being exported worldwide.

Ex-Or Ltd says it is experiencing an export boom, fuelled by companies wanting to reduce their carbon footprint in the wake of the Stern Review and other international reports on climate change.

Eliminating the unnecessary use of lighting is one of the most direct ways of dramatically cutting the amount of energy consumed by industrial and commercial organisations. Ex-Or is seeing a huge increase in sales of its energy saving lighting management products and systems around the world. Exports now account for more than 30 percent of its business.

Building on its well established presence in Europe, it now has a significant export trade with Scandinavia, Australia, India, and the Middle and Far East. In addition, its controls and systems are installed in many more countries, as it supplies its lighting management equipment on an OEM basis to most of the international lighting industry's most prestigious names.

Said Ex-Or managing director Neil Jones: "Until recently, the ability to save money by using lighting control to cut energy costs had been the main driver for specifying our products. But now there is an increased emphasis on corporate social responsibility, and the realisation is growing that everyone has a contribution to make in reducing carbon emissions.

"Overseas companies in particular are taking the climate change message very seriously and are looking at ways they can make a difference, in particular by cutting their use of energy."

Recently completed Ex-Or overseas contracts have included:

Installation of Ex-Or MLS Digital Managed Lighting System throughout the new, multi-storey Etisalat (UAE's leading telecoms company) building in Dubai

MLS CONNECT Digital installation at DIFC (Dubai International Financial Centre) for blue-chip companies including Standard Chartered Bank and Goldman Sachs

Several installations in landmark buildings in the area of Bangalore dubbed India's "Silicon Valley". These include headquarters buildings of IBM, Microsoft and Fidelity

Ex-Or lighting controls are delivering energy savings in every single Telstra strategic telephone exchange throughout Australia

The headquarters of the Australian Football League was retrofitted with an Ex-Or MLS Digital Managed Lighting System to switch lights based on occupancy. The AFL will save 386 tonnes of greenhouse gas annually as a result.
